Friends of Collessie Church

Friends of Collessie Church* (FOCC) is a recognised Scottish Charity which was set up in 2005. Their aim is to preserve and maintain the beautiful Grade B listed Collessie Church, and its memorials and windows.

As well as raising funds to support the Church, the FOCC endeavours to stimulate interest in the history and architecture of the Church, and promote its heritage and appeal to a new generation of people to ensure its upkeep and longevity for future generations.

The Church Building

The Church building is over 165 years old, and currently in relatively good condition, with dry rot having been treated in 1997. Currently, fundraising is under way for further improvements to the Church, and the FOCC invite donations from members of the public towards the upkeep of the Church.   These can be one-off donations or an annual membership to the organisation. Current rates are: Individual membership £20.00; Family membership £35.00.
All contributions are very welcome, and will help to preserve and maintain the Church building and grounds.

Collessie Churchyard Book

FOCC hold a large amount of archive material relating to the Church, the village and the Parish of Collessie.  Their largest project was the compilation of Collessie's Churchyard Book, a searchable database listing everyone buried in the graveyard from the 17th Century to the present time, a huge feat as it also included all tombstone inscriptions.

If you would like further information or would like access to the Church buildings (including Melville's Tomb); the Churchyard book and Collessie archives, please contact the friends by email at, or telephone Lesley Cook on 01337 810385 or write to FOCC, c/o Shuttle Cottage, Collessie, Fife.
